This is Eden, an app to spruce up your space.

OVERVIEW

Eden is an app that aims to help people fill their homes with life, light, and other decorations to make it an enjoyable space. Using a feature that allows user to scan their rooms into digital maps, Eden would be able to give personalized recommendations on products to place in the home and where to put it.

CONCEPT

Users can use the AR feature to see exactly what items would look like in their home before purchase. The app is completely free, getting revenue from advertising and pairing with companies like Home Depot, IKEA, and local plant shops who would provide the products purchased by users.

Partners

This project was made in Aynne Valencia's Advanced Experience Design class in the Fall of 2019. Initial research was done with Elijah Haines, the first iteration I did by myself, and the final was done with a partner, Claire Zhou.

Starting with an Introduction.

PRODUCT VIDEO

Join Eden today!

I created a product video to sell the app to the potential investors that came into our critique. I used After Effects to animate parts of this movie.

And Here's a Breakdown of the Features.

FINAL ITERATION

The Eden App.

The final app was developed after a few different iterations in wireframe form. My responsibilities included applying the moodboard/UI kit to this final iteration.

BASIC SCAN

Quick and Easy.

The Basic Scan allows the user to take a photo of an area in their home that they would like recommendations for. We will then provide a detailed analysis of their space and recommendations for how to spruce it up.

ADVANCED SCAN

Recieve Personalized Map of Room.

Advanced Scan gives the user a map of their room with dimensions to help with any in-store purchases. It allows for a more in-depth analysis of the room with better recommendations. Users can also browse products live in their room using our AR feature.

Final Iteration

Checkout Process.

Users can look at what the pieces would look like in their space using the AR feature. Simile checkout.

Here's how this project was made.

RESEARCH

Designing for the Home.

We were tasked with designing in the home, so after some in-class ideation techniques, I decided I wanted to focus on Light. Elijah Haines and I found that light impacts human health and performance by controlling the body’s circadian system, affecting mood and perception, and by enabling critical chemical reactions in the body.

So, how might we use natural or artificial light to make less desirable/dark spaces in the home feel more inviting?

PERSONAS

Given Direction.

Our teacher Aynne Valencia, created these personas for us to work with. Claire and I aimed mostly towards Aditi & Steve's Family.

FIRST ITERATION

Quick & Dirty.

The first iteration, which I did alone, focused on selling light/plant combo packages in order to bring more life and light into the dark corners and hallways of your home. This iteration was created in 1.5 weeks.

This is an INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPE! Try clicking through the screens.

FIRST ITERATION

Poster and Presentation

We presented to guests acting as 'investors' handing out fake money to ideas they liked in class. My project got the top three, so it was carried on to the next round of design. That's when Claire Zhou joined this project.

SECOND ITERATION

Wireframing.

Claire and I built out some wireframing with slight adjustments to the flow of the app. We tested this prototype with users and made edits for the final. This is interactive! Mouse over to control!

STORYBOARDING

Envisioned experience.

We created a rough storyboard for the experience we were aiming to create.

UI Kit & Style Guide

Kits and Guides.

Claire and I created some style guides and a logo to go along with the app.
