OVERVIEW
The mountains can be a dangerous place, which can make skiing alone hazardous. With Paow, you can meet fellow powder lovers at the same ski level as you and have company on your ski day. SImply match with someone, message, and meet up!
CONCEPT
You don't have to be alone. While skiing alone does have some perks, it can be quite lonely. Skiing with others expands terrain options to include backcountry, other less populated and more dangerous areas.
TIMELINE
The original assignment this project came from was to merge two apps, in Erin Malone's Behavior class Fall 2018. I chose Slopes (a ski progress tracking app) and Bumble (a dating app like Tinder). Later I changed the Bumble inspiration to Hinge (another dating app). I redesigned this project for a project in Aynne Valencia's Adv Experience Design Fall 2019.
THE APP
When you hear of stories where skiers or snowboarders go missing, it is often because they are alone. Also, many of us skiers and snowboarders know what it's like to find a friend on the lift and end up spending most of the day together. This app is here to facilitate new friendships in the name of safety and good times.
THE APP FOR YOU
Let us get to know a little bit about you and we'll try to pair you with people who you'd get along with!
SAFETY MEASURES
You can track your day at the mountain and use the map to view your buddy's location to make meeting up and finding each other easy and hassle-free.
PLANNING
We encourage our users to find their ski partner the day before their planned ski day. This ensures successful meetups and opens the door to the potential of carpooling.

LAST ITERATIONS
I turned in my first iteration in Erin Malone's Behavior Class in the Fall of 2018. This iteration also came with a product video. The UI in the video has since been updated in the below iterations.
BEFORE AFTER
NEXT STEPS
The latest iteration was made to clean up the logo and tracking experience. Through this project, I learned more about how to borrow good design elements from other apps. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, I needed to figure out how to use what's already out there. If I were to take this project further, I would try to begin testing the app with friends and other volunteers to see how viable it really is.
